Mitrobates

Was a Persian, governor of Dascyleium, who is famous for having taunted Oroetes, satrap of Sardis, with allowing Samos to continue free from the Persian yoke. During the disturbed period which followed the death of Cambyses and the usurpation of the Magi, 521 B.C., Oroetes put Mitrobates and his son Cranaspes to death.
